Cooper Discoverer H/T - Driver Report
Mr Terry Smith Dear Terry,
I like a road-oriented tyre for my daily use but because I need to test vehicles in extreme territory too, I chose to put a set of Cooper Discoverer H/T, 265/70R16 size on my NM Pajero. I found them quieter than the original tyres along with great handling on and off road. These tyres had travelled only 17,000 km when I traded the NM on a new NP model Pajero. Having been so impressed with the Cooper's performance and durability, I decided to keep the tyres and put them straight on the new fourby. I've now done 55,000 km with them on this vehicle, a total of 72,000 km. Not bad considering your 60,000 km warranty on that size that I didn't expect to get due to the driving I do. I probably could go longer, but I'm off on a camping trip with my family out west so I want new rubber for the trip. Terry, 50 percent of my driving has been testing the Pajero and new TJM products. I put them over some of the roughest roads I can find, I load the vehicle up to GVM, tow heavy loads and on one test where we measured the strength of our 9,000lb winch, we put 16,000lbs of load on the front bar which pulled the tyres up against a retainer that had the tyres' so distorted I thought the deflection would split the sidewalls. But they just rebounded once the load was released with no ill effects. That's almost 8 tons of load! I've driven from Cape York to Sydney and inland in between. While I've had punctures in vehicles with other brands of tyres while testing, I haven't had a single puncture on my Coopers even on the same routes. I'm writing to tell you that I've just put another set of Cooper H/T's on the Pajero. I've chosen them because I have so much faith and confidence in them with all the different punishment I put my first set through, and they've never let me down. I can't fault my H/T's and trust them so much; I'm staying with them second time round. Best regards, Simon Orton |
